Russian special forces eliminate 5 terrorists in major operation

The Russian Counter-Terrorism Committee announced on Wednesday, the elimination of five militants in a special operation in the Chechen Republic, including one of those involved in the bombing of Domodedovo Airport, south of the Russian capital, Moscow, in 2011.

According to the committee’s statement: “Five militants were eliminated as part of a special operation in Chechnya, among them the leader of the Potocaev gang involved in organizing the terrorist attack on Domodedovo airport in 2011.”

The statement stated: “During a special operation in Chechnya, five bandits were eliminated.”Earlier, the President of the Chechen Republic , Ramzan Kadyrov, said that six militants had been killed in Chechnya and that “the underground bandits in the republic had been completely eliminated.”

It is noteworthy to mention that the arrivals hall at Domodedovo International Airport in Moscow were subjected to a terrorist bombing on January 24, 2011, which killed 37 people and wounded at least 172 injuries.

The suicide bomber who carried out the attack used seven kilograms of TNT.
